Sing to the LORD a brand new song! Praise him from the horizon of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, you coastlands and those who live there! Isaiah 42:10
Feeling overwhelmed? It’s time to sing.
I’ve found there’s nothing like singing to get my eyes off the trouble in this dark world and lift my soul to God. (With all the sad, bad news swirling about lately, I’ve had to sing a lot!)
Here are some simple ways to fit singing into your day:
- Listen to praise music and sing along as you drive or work on a chore around your home.
- Join a choir. Mid-week choir practice is like an oasis like no other in my week to reset my perspective back where it needs to be. (Thank you, Dan Baker!)
- Sing in the shower.
- Set up your favorite praise music channels on iTunes radio. I’ve been singing along with Lauren Daigle’s amazing album “How Can It Be” for about 3 months. I know most of the words now to her gorgeous lyrics so I can sing along.
- If you play an instrument, give yourself some “oasis time” to sit down to play and sing. Let the LORD be your audience of one. (He loves your singing, whether you have perfect pitch or are just making a joyful noise!)
Singing is good for the soul.
I loved using old sheet music, watercolor, ink, and acrylic to create this mixed media art work. (Fun fact: This painting was adopted into a loving home in Wisconsin!)
